Archaeologists uncover ancient artifacts in Serbia and Turkey
Archaeologists have uncovered significant ancient artifacts in two separate discoveries. In Prahova County, Serbia, a metal detectorist discovered a collection of items dating back to the late third millennium BCE. The find includes two copper axes, three gold hair rings, and a series of gold beads found at a depth of 30 centimeters near a tree.
In Turkey, underwater excavations near Adrasan in the Antalya province have revealed a 2,100-year-old shipwreck. The vessel was carrying a large cargo of ceramic tableware, including 122 different shapes and sizes of plates, bowls, and serving dishes. Many of these items are believed to originate from the ancient settlement of Rhosus in the Hatay province. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism noted that these ceramics were highly sought after in the Roman world, with historical references to Rhosus ceramics appearing in the writings of the Roman statesman Cicero.
