Archaeology lectures scheduled in the Netherlands

Two upcoming lectures in the Netherlands will explore different facets of archaeology and historical life.

On March 15, 2026, Frank Postma will present a lecture at the Huis van Hilde Archeology Museum in Castricum regarding the Ter Coulster coin treasure. The presentation aims to use the 16th-century find to provide insights into the power, trade, and daily lives of people from that era, specifically relating to the figure Brecht from the museum's permanent exhibition.

On November 20, Michael Klomp and Sanne van Zanten from the Zwolle Heritage team will host a free lecture at the Van der Velde bookstore in Zwolle. This session will focus on garbage archaeology, examining how waste and cesspits serve as historical sources to understand consumption patterns and societal habits from the 19th century to the present day.
