Archaeology Museum Herne introduces informal tour concept
Timo Reichelt, an archaeologist and art historian, has introduced a new approach to museum tours at the Archaeology Museum in Herne. His tour concept, titled ‘Ruhrpott-Schnauze’, aims to lower barriers to entry and reduce the traditional distance between experts and visitors.
Reichelt, who previously worked as a mechanic and gardener before studying archaeology, uses an informal style to encourage visitor engagement and questions. His background as a trained blacksmith also allows him to incorporate practical demonstrations, such as working at an anvil, into the museum experience.
