Archbishop Andrzej Przybylski marks first year in Katowice

Archbishop Andrzej Przybylski has completed his first year of service as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Katowice. Appointed by Pope Leo XIV on August 29, 2025, Przybylski previously served as an auxiliary bishop in the Częstochowa Archdiocese.

During his first year, the Archbishop focused on engaging with local parishes, sanctuaries, and various community groups, including youth and clergy. He participated in significant diocesan events, such as pilgrimages to Jasna Góra and Piekary Śląskie. On June 29, 2026, he received the pallium from Pope Leo XIV during a Mass at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

Following his installation in the Katowice Cathedral on October 4, 2025, Przybylski traveled to Assisi to entrust the Upper Silesian metropolis to the care of St. Francis. Additionally, in June 2026, he was appointed to the Permanent Council of the Polish Episcopal Conference.
