Archbishop Corrado Lorefice presents new book in Palermo

Archbishop Corrado Lorefice has presented his new book, ‘Il Vangelo per le strade. Discorsi alla città di Palermo’ (The Gospel for the Streets. Discourses to the City of Palermo), published by Il Pozzo di Giacobbe.

The book was introduced at the Palermo Cathedral following a ceremony marking the 33rd anniversary of the death of Father Pino Puglisi. The presentation included Cardinal Domenico Battaglia, Archbishop of Naples, and Antonio Balsamo, prosecutor of the Court of Appeal of the Tribunal of Palermo.

The work compiles messages, speeches, and homilies delivered by Lorefice since his installation in Palermo. It uses the city as a metaphor for the complexities of the global South, addressing social imbalances, injustices, and the pervasive presence of organized crime. The text presents the Gospel as a tool for social redemption and a call to resist resignation in difficult urban environments.
