Archbishop Duncan-Williams calls for prayers against illegal mining in Ghana

Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, has called for prayers to support Ghana’s efforts to combat illegal mining, known as ‘galamsey’.

Speaking in an interview with Joy FM, Duncan-Williams suggested that the illicit gold trade involves a spiritual dimension, alleging that some individuals involved in illegal mining are working with ‘powers from the other side’. He warned that the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) and other state institutions are facing opposition from a ‘very powerful movement’ consisting of influential individuals with extensive knowledge of the gold trade who are resisting sector regulation.

While emphasizing that his role is to pray against what he perceives as spiritual forces contributing to the destruction of the country, the Archbishop clarified that his appeal is not intended to replace legal enforcement. He maintained that state institutions, including the police and military, must continue to enforce laws against illegal mining and gold smuggling.
