Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen to be beatified

The beatification of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24. Sheen was a prominent figure in religious media, transitioning from his radio program, ‘Catholic Hour’, to the television program ‘Life is Worth Living’ in 1952.

Despite airing on a weaker network, his television program achieved ratings success and demonstrated how the medium could be used to communicate Catholic teachings to a broad audience.
