Archbishop Ieronymos leads academic year blessing at University of Athens

Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens presided over the blessing ceremony for the start of the new academic year at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA). During the ceremony held in the Old Hall of the Senate, the Archbishop shared reflections on his personal academic journey at the university, where he previously served as both a student and a lecturer.

University Rector Gerasimos Siasos welcomed the Archbishop, noting his status as an alumnus of two departments and an honorary doctorate holder. Siasos highlighted that this year is particularly significant as the university celebrates 190 years of operation. He also noted the successful functioning of the university's branch in Cyprus and mentioned that the institution's new staff numbers have doubled compared to previous years. Additionally, the Rector referenced recent major donations from four large banks intended for the renovation and strengthening of the university's infrastructure.
