Archbishop José Manuel Imbamba presides over Fátima pilgrimage

Archbishop José Manuel Imbamba, President of the Conference of Episcopal Conferences of Angola and São Tomé (CEAST), presided over the International Anniversary Pilgrimage at the Sanctuary of Fátima in Portugal. The event drew approximately 70,000 pilgrims.

During the celebrations, Archbishop Imbamba addressed global challenges, including violence, armed conflicts, and rising nationalism. He emphasized that the message of Fátima serves as a path toward rebuilding human relationships through love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. He called for an interior renewal among Christians to produce concrete societal changes and to combat indifference and intolerance.

Reflecting on the history of the sanctuary, the Archbishop noted the legacy of previous Popes who visited Fátima, including Paul VI, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI, as well as the message of hope reinforced by Pope Francis.
