Velehrad hosts millions for Days of Good Will, urging unity and AI caution

The annual Days of Good Will religious festival took place at the Velehrad basilica in the Czech Republic, drawing tens of thousands of pilgrims from across the country and abroad. The opening Mass was led by Prague Archbishop Stanislav Přibyl, with Bishop Pavel Konzbul delivering a sermon that highlighted a perceived crisis of values, called for personal courage, and warned against uncritical use of artificial intelligence.

The event introduced the "Velehradská výzva" – a call to seek what unites people, promote dialogue, respect, and reconciliation. The challenge was presented by Czech Bishops’ Conference chairman Josef Nuzík and echoed by the Ecumenical Council of Churches. Participants were encouraged to make personal commitments to foster understanding and peace.

A special exhibition displayed the relic of Saint Luke, patron of physicians, underscoring the festival’s dedication to medical staff. The program featured music, sport competitions, seminars, Bible transcription, and an international meeting of wheelchair users. A charity concert raised 730,000 CZK for charitable projects, with donations collected via SMS continuing until the end of the year.
