Archbishop Ndukuba warns Gen Z of eroding Nigerian values
Archbishop Henry Ndukuba, the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has warned that younger generations, specifically Gen Z and Gen Alpha, are drifting away from traditional Nigerian values. Speaking at a dinner held in his honor by the Obafemi Awolowo family in Ikenne, Ogun State, Ndukuba expressed concern over the erosion of the moral and cultural foundations that have historically supported Nigerian society.
The Primate attributed this shift to the influence of globalized digital culture and the tendency of young people to view celebrities as role models rather than historical figures who contributed significantly to society. He specifically criticized the decline of history education in Nigerian schools, stating that the lack of historical knowledge may prevent youth from understanding the nation's direction.
Ndukuba used the legacy of Obafemi Awolowo to advocate for selflessness, sacrifice, and service to humanity, urging Nigerians to build lives that leave positive legacies for future generations.
