Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams advises young pastor on church growth
Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, General Overseer of Action Chapel International, has advised a young pastor against his plan to construct a church capable of seating 20,000 worshippers. The archbishop noted that while the pastor possessed the financial means to fund such a massive project, his motivations appeared misplaced.
During a recent sermon, Duncan-Williams questioned why the preacher sought such a large congregation, noting that the pastor currently leads approximately 1,000 people. He warned that the emotional strain, stress, and pressure of managing a mega-church could be overwhelming, stating, “20,000 congregation. Do you know what it means? It will kill you.”
Instead of attempting to replicate large-scale ministries immediately, Duncan-Williams recommended the pastor build a facility for 2,000 worshippers to allow for gradual, sustainable growth. He cautioned the young preacher against imitating established ministries without fully understanding the sacrifices and demands required to lead them.
