Archbishop of Oaxaca Calls for Courage and Generosity in Sunday Homily
Archbishop Pedro Vázquez Villalobos delivered his Sunday homily at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in Oaxaca de Juárez on June 28. He urged listeners not to be silent in the face of wrongdoing, citing the biblical prophet Jeremiah and the apostles, and encouraged them to place their trust in God rather than in people or material security.
He also emphasized the virtue of generosity, recalling the story of the prophet Elisha’s visit to a welcoming household. The archbishop said that God blesses a generous heart and that true generosity is giving without expectation of return. He concluded by urging the faithful to embody generosity and courage in daily life, trusting that God will reward such deeds.
