Archbishop René Leigue calls for end to envy and slander

Archbishop René Leigue of Santa Cruz has issued a call for individuals to abandon envy, slander, and divisive attitudes. Reflecting on the biblical parable of the vineyard workers, Leigue addressed the human tendency to create hierarchies based on seniority or perceived merit.

He cautioned against the logic that those who have spent more time in a specific space or institution possess greater rights than newcomers. Leigue warned that such comparisons often lead to negative thoughts, such as labeling others as ‘good’ or ‘bad,’ which ultimately creates obstacles to coexistence and harmony within the community.
