Archbishops René Leigue and Víctor Sánchez Espinosa Deliver Homilies on Faith and Social Issues

On 26 July 2026, Archbishop René Leigue Cesari of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, presided over the Eucharist at the Metropolitan Cathedral during the XVII Sunday of Ordinary Time. He urged the faithful to seek Christ as the true treasure, highlighted the wisdom of Solomon as a model for serving the common good, and called for families and society to be guided by divine wisdom.

In Mexico, Archbishop Víctor Sánchez Espinosa of Puebla celebrated mass at Puebla Cathedral on the XVI Sunday of Ordinary Time, marking the centenary of the Cristero War. He remembered the persecution of the Church a century earlier, prayed for the slain journalist Alejandro Leyva Aguilar and lawyer Roger Hernández Flores, and appealed for peace, justice, respect for human rights, and religious freedom.

Both homilies emphasized a moral responsibility toward society and remembrance of those who suffered for their faith and profession.
