Archdiocese of Xalapa awaits successor for Patrón Wong

The Archdiocese of Xalapa has yet to announce an official successor for Archbishop Jorge Carlos Patrón Wong, who is scheduled to leave his current post to continue his ministry in the Archdiocese of Puebla.

Father Aurelio Mojica Limón, spokesperson for the Diocese of Veracruz, stated that the decision rests with the Pope and the Holy See, involving the Apostolic Nunciature. Because the selection process is handled by the Vatican, it is difficult to predict who will be appointed.

One possibility mentioned is that auxiliary bishop José Rafael Palma Capetillo could temporarily assume administrative functions, though this has not been confirmed. This period of uncertainty mirrors the transition following the death of Monsignor Hipólito Reyes Larios, which eventually led to the appointment of Patrón Wong.
