Archdiocese of Xalapa calls for compassion amid poverty in Veracruz

On Sunday, 14 June 2026, the Archdiocese of Xalapa released a communiqué stressing that Jesus “continues to feel compassion for the poverty of humankind.” The statement highlighted material deprivation and a lack of spiritual development in Mexico, especially in Veracruz, noting “there are not enough well‑paid jobs and medicines.”

It described the population as “running, exhausted, like sheep without a shepherd” and urged true charity, solidarity and spiritual renewal, saying that “the comfort of the technical era will not save Mexicans and Veracruzans; only genuine charity will.”
