Arche Nova faces funding cuts in Saxony

The Dresden‑based aid organisation Arche Nova says it is under growing financial pressure after public subsidies were reduced. The loss of funding threatens its international humanitarian projects and a long‑running education programme for Syrian refugee children in Lebanon.

Arche Nova met with Saxony Minister‑President Michael Kretschmer, who praised the charity as a key development‑aid actor in the state. Kretschmer pledged political backing and called for a stable, long‑term partnership with the Free State. Sarah Kendziorra, vice‑head of International Programs, highlighted that Saxon funding since 2017 has helped more than 7,700 children gain a future, and urged continuation of support. Executive Director Jens Ola stressed the need for a clear political signal to sustain humanitarian aid, water‑sanitation work and education‑for‑sustainable‑development initiatives.
