Archer Aviation completes Northern California air-taxi flight tour

Archer Aviation has completed the Northern California leg of its ‘No Roads’ flight tour using its Midnight electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The four-passenger air taxi conducted a series of flights departing from Oakland International Airport to various locations, including Hayward, Mountain View, San Martin, and San Jose.

During the three-day campaign, the aircraft accumulated over 200 flight miles and reached speeds of up to 131 mph. The Midnight model features 12 rotors and is advertised with a 100-mile range and a top speed of 150 mph. The company highlighted that a flight from Oakland to San Francisco’s Marina District could take approximately 10 minutes, significantly reducing travel time compared to driving through traffic.

Archer plans to continue testing in Los Angeles as part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program. The company aims to provide air-taxi services during the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, having previously been designated as an official air taxi provider.
