Archer Aviation plans electric air taxi networks in Texas
Archer Aviation has announced plans to launch three electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi networks across the Texas Triangle, serving Austin, Dallas–Fort Worth, and Houston. Using the company’s all-electric Midnight aircraft, the proposed networks aim to reduce travel times from 60–90 minutes by car to just 10–20 minutes in flight.
The Dallas–Fort Worth network is designed to connect six airports, including Dallas Fort Worth International and Dallas Love Field, with business hubs such as Frisco Station. The Houston network will link George Bush Intercontinental, William P. Hobby, and Sugar Land Regional airports to downtown areas and Galveston. In Austin, potential locations include Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and the Circuit of the Americas helipad.
Archer is working with the Texas Department of Transportation and participating in the federal eVTOL Integration Pilot Program to develop necessary charging infrastructure at airports and other locations.
