Archer Aviation to acquire Boeing subsidiaries Wisk, Insitu, and SkyGrid

Archer Aviation has entered into a transformative agreement with Boeing to acquire three of the aerospace giant’s subsidiaries: Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid. These units specialize in autonomous flight technology, unmanned aerial vehicles, and advanced air traffic management.

In exchange for these businesses, Boeing will receive approximately 19.75% to 20% of Archer Aviation’s outstanding common stock, along with warrants that could provide additional upside. The deal also includes a cross-licensing agreement for intellectual property, allowing Boeing to maintain access to the technologies being transferred.

For Archer Aviation, the acquisition expands its capabilities beyond electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft into defense and autonomous flight sectors. For Boeing, the move is viewed by analysts as a strategic portfolio realignment, allowing the company to focus resources on its core commercial aircraft production, such as the 737 and 787 models, while maintaining a significant stake in next-generation aviation technology.
