Archer Aviation to acquire Boeing subsidiaries Wisk, SkyGrid, and Insitu
Archer Aviation has entered into definitive agreements to acquire three Boeing subsidiaries: Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu. The all-stock transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, pending regulatory and national security clearances.
The acquisition aims to create an integrated physical AI platform for aerospace and defense by combining Archer’s electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) technology with the autonomous flight, airspace management, and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) capabilities of the acquired firms. Insitu, a profitable drone manufacturer, is expected to significantly expand Archer’s defense portfolio, generating over $200 million in annual revenue.
As part of the deal, Boeing will receive a strategic equity stake of approximately 19.75% in Archer’s Class A shares and will gain a seat on Archer’s board of directors. Boeing will also retain access to Wisk’s core autonomous flight technology through a technology-sharing arrangement to support its own commercial and defense aircraft development.
