Archer Daniels Midland expands U.S. crush capacity and grain elevator amid rising biofuel demand
Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) announced a series of investments to increase its North American oilseed‑crush capacity by about 700,000 metric tons, adding roughly 25 million bushels of demand for U.S. farmers. The upgrades target four U.S. facilities—Frankfort, Indiana; Deerfield, Missouri; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Spiritwood, North Dakota—and are slated for completion between late 2028 and early 2029.
In a related project, ADM will invest millions of dollars in its grain elevator at Optima, Oklahoma. The upgrade will add 150 rail cars of track capacity, a new unloading pit with two hard‑car diggers, and is expected to halve train unloading times. Completion is projected for mid‑2027. Executives highlighted that strong biofuel policy and growing feed‑grain demand are driving the enhancements, which aim to improve efficiency and support American farmers and livestock producers.
