Architect Elpida Spyrou relocates from Athens to Chania

Architect Elpida Spyrou, who studied in England, decided to relocate from Athens to Chania in 2022. Despite initial skepticism from others, she reports no regrets after nearly five years in the region.

Spyrou cites several reasons for the move, including a desire for a better quality of life and greater professional freedom. She noted that working outside of an Athens-based office allowed her to engage more deeply with her field. In Chania, she has found unique professional opportunities, particularly in the restoration of historical buildings and projects located in protected areas.

While the transition required building a new social and professional circle from scratch, Spyrou maintains a strong connection to the area through her family roots, as Chania is her mother's place of origin.
