Architect proposes converting East German Plattenbau into single-family homes

Architect Jurek Brüggen has proposed a project to transform traditional East German WBS70 prefabricated concrete buildings (Plattenbau) into individual single-family homes.

The project, inspired by the urban landscape of Stendal in Saxony-Anhalt, aims to convert these large structures into separate living units, each featuring its own private entrance and garden. The concept seeks to provide a modern housing alternative without the need for new construction on greenfield sites.
