Rafael Moneo honored by Extremadura Academy and featured in new biography
Architect Rafael Moneo Vallés was recently inducted as an Honorary Academic of the Real Academia de Extremadura de las Letras y las Artes. During the ceremony held at the Palacio de Lorenza, Moneo delivered an investiture speech titled ‘Disquisiciones en torno a la catedral de Plasencia/ Abierto elogio de su arquitectura’, in which he reflected on the relationship between architectural works and their usage.
In addition to this recognition, a new biographical study titled ‘Rafael Moneo, construir las ideas (1954-2024)’ has been published by editorial Acantilado. Written by Carmen Díez Medina, the book examines Moneo’s intellectual and professional trajectory from his early studies in Madrid to his maturity as a Pritzker Prize-winning architect. The work details his diverse cultural interests, ranging from painting and literature to his interactions with other prominent architects and thinkers.
