Architects Order criticizes San Leone 2006 Committee initiative

Alfonso Cimino, president of the Order of Architects, has criticized an initiative by the San Leone 2006 Committee regarding the urban regeneration of San Leone and Maddalusa in Agrigento. The committee proposed rewarding professional projects with a trophy, a move Cimino argues violates current regulations.

Cimino noted that the Public Contracts Code prohibits intellectual professional services from being provided free of charge. He emphasized that under Legislative Decree 36/2023 and Law 49/2023, professionals are entitled to fair compensation. While acknowledging the need for strategic development in the region, the Order maintains that urban regeneration must respect professional dignity and legal frameworks, urging administrations to secure legitimate funding for professional assignments.
