Architectural designs featured in the Azores and São Paulo
Recent architectural highlights include the completion of the AW House in Candelária, São Miguel Island, Azores. Designed by Sal Arquitetos, the 555 m2 residence utilizes the local topography by featuring a partially subterranean lower floor for technical areas, a kitchen, and a living room. An upper floor, constructed almost entirely of glass, houses private suites and offices, providing 360-degree views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Sete Cidades massif.
In São Paulo, Brazil, the Apartamento dos Pórticos offers a different approach to residential design. Located in the Jardins neighborhood, this 4,300 sqft residence was designed by Felipe Hess, João Paulo Carrascoza, and Laura Peters. The layout is defined by four porticos that frame the main living area and a central hall that maintains symmetry throughout the home. The interior features light cement flooring and textured walls, complemented by a collection of historic furniture from designers such as Isamu Noguchi and Sergio Rodrigues.
