Architectural projects highlight modern design in Spain

Recent architectural developments in Spain showcase diverse design philosophies, ranging from urban loft-inspired renovations to minimalist hillside structures.

In Madrid’s Arganzuela neighborhood, Estudio Reciente has completed a renovation of a 100 m² residence. Designed by Carlos Tomás and managed by Manuel Alba, the project aims to replicate the spirit of New York lofts. The design utilizes a fluid layout and a bold terracotta color palette to connect common areas while maintaining the original distribution of private quarters. The interior integrates industrial materials, Italian design icons, and functional solutions to create a contemporary, luminous living space.

In Sotogrande, Cádiz, the Fran Silvestre Arquitectos studio has designed a three-story residence that adapts to the natural inclination of its plot. The structure is characterized by minimalist lines and volumes that connect via vertices rather than traditional staircases, creating a sense of movement throughout the home. The layout features an uninterrupted succession of spaces, with the upper volume housing private quarters and opening onto a large terrace.
