Architecture and design updates: Affordable housing in Ibiza and new sculpture in Argentina

Recent developments in architecture and design highlight themes of social adaptability and material transformation. In Ibiza, Stefano Boeri Architetti has won a competition for Sa Casa, a project featuring approximately 190 below-market-rate rental apartments. The development utilizes cross-laminated timber (CLT) construction, photovoltaic panels, and adaptable layouts to promote sustainability and affordability.

In Rotterdam, the firm MAD has unveiled plans for Danshuis, a 9,500-square-meter dance center scheduled for 2030 that will repurpose a 1923 Art Deco warehouse.

In Argentina, visual artist Armando Frezze Durand will present a new sculptural series at Casa FOA 2026. His works, created in collaboration with PACTO Estudio, utilize concrete and recycled aluminum to explore themes of memory and stratification. The exhibition will take place throughout October at the Palacio Molina in Buenos Aires.
