Architecture awards recognize residential projects in Poland and Australia
In Poland, the ‘House Among Trees’ located in Olsztyn Jurajski has been awarded the Silesian Voivodeship Architecture of the Year 2026 in the Single-Family House category. Designed by Grupa Verso, the 231.8 square meter residence was built to preserve existing old-growth trees on a 2,238 square meter plot. The design features a prominent wooden roof with wide eaves that protect terraces and connect the interior with the garden through large glass panes.
In Australia, a 120 square meter residence in the bushland of southern Tasmania, designed by Biotope Architecture + Interiors, focuses on environmental integration. The project utilizes materials such as rammed earth, charred wood, Corten steel, and reclaimed timber. A key feature is a massive rammed earth wall that provides thermal mass and noise reduction from a nearby highway. The design also includes a converted pond that now serves as a wetland to support local biodiversity.
