Archival letter from the Frierdiker Rebbe discovered

A tribute letter from the Frierdiker Rebbe has been uncovered in an archival edition of the Polish newspaper Dos Yidishe Togblat. The letter was written to offer condolences to the students of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin following the death of its founder, Harav Meir Shapiro.

Harav Meir Shapiro, known as the Lubliner Rav, was a prominent scholar who founded Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin in 1930 and introduced the Daf Yomi program. The Frierdiker Rebbe maintained a close relationship with Shapiro, assisting in fundraising for the institution and visiting the yeshiva. Shapiro passed away at age 46 due to typhus.

The discovered text, released in connection with the 94th yahrtzeit of Harav Meir Shapiro, includes a portion of the Rebbe’s words of encouragement to the students, though the remainder of the letter has not yet been located.
