Archive fire at Austria's LKH Bregenz hospital

A fire broke out in the archive of the LKH Bregenz hospital in Austria during the early hours of 3 August 2026. Firefighters entered the building and extinguished the blaze by 02:32 UTC. The fire was confined to a single area of the archive, no injuries were reported and evacuation was unnecessary. The cause is suspected to be a computer or labeling device.

Six people were killed, including both bus drivers and the occupants of the motorhome, and 34 were injured, four seriously.

In Switzerland, a multi‑vehicle collision in the canton of Schwyz injured eight people. A car struck an oncoming motorcycle and then a second oncoming car. A nine‑year‑old boy from the second car suffered life‑threatening injuries and was air‑lifted to hospital.
