Archivo General de Andalucía to digitize Jorge Bonsor Collection
The Archivo General de Andalucía has announced plans to fully digitize the Jorge Bonsor Collection. This initiative is part of a series of scientific and educational activities organized by the Consejería de Cultura, Patrimonio Histórico y Deporte to commemorate the centenary of the archaeologist's death in 2030.
Jorge Bonsor was a key figure in the study and protection of Andalusian archaeological heritage, particularly regarding Roman Bética and Tartessian culture. His personal archive is extensive, consisting of 18 files, 500 maps and drawings, 1,700 photographs (including 450 glass plate negatives), 220 postcards, 15 engravings, and 400 books. The collection is closely tied to his excavation campaigns in the provinces of Sevilla, Cádiz, and Huelva.
