Archivo General de la Nación releases book on Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi

The Archivo General de la Nación has released a new book titled ‘Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi en La Nación’. Compiled by Dominican historian and researcher Rafael Darío Herrera, the volume gathers 157 articles written by the prominent intellectual for the newspaper La Nación between February 1940 and December 1951.

During the book's presentation, historian Raymundo González, an advisor to the Archivo General de la Nación, noted that this publication offers insight into a less studied aspect of Rodríguez Demorizi’s intellectual work. The collection highlights the author's contributions to history, cultural and artistic criticism, and journalism, while showcasing his methodology of using documents as a fundamental research source.

Author Rafael Darío Herrera stated that the project, which originated around 2009, required a meticulous review of the La Nación archives to locate and verify the texts. He emphasized that Rodríguez Demorizi’s work remains essential to Dominican historical studies due to the precision of his data and his extensive body of work, which includes over a hundred books and various collaborative studies.
