Arcidosso honors Chögyal Namkhai Norbu and Maco Museum anniversary
The town of Arcidosso is hosting a series of ceremonies and musical events on September 27 to commemorate the memory of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu and celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Maco, the Museum of Oriental Art and Culture.
A central event will feature the inauguration of via Maestro Norbu, a street previously known as via Tibet. The ceremony will be attended by the President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani, and the Mayor of Arcidosso, Jacopo Marini. The naming of the street honors the deep connection between the late master and the local community.
Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, who passed away in 2018, arrived in Italy in 1960 and founded Merigar in 1981, the first center of the International Dzogchen Community. He was a scholar of Tibetan and Mongolian language and literature, teaching at the University of Naples L’Orientale for thirty years and producing nearly four hundred publications.
