Arcom takes legal action against Éric Zemmour and faces complaint from Sarah Knafo

The French audiovisual regulator, Arcom, has referred Éric Zemmour to the judiciary following controversial remarks made on several news channels. Arcom officials stated that the statements, which included references to “hordes of Maghrebi and African barbarians” and calls for “remigration,” may constitute incitement to discrimination. Arcom President Martin Ajdari noted that while the authority cannot pre-emptively ban guests, broadcasters are responsible for managing their airwaves and providing nuance or contradiction when legal boundaries are crossed.

Separately, European Parliament member Sarah Knafo, representing the Reconquête party, has officially petitioned Arcom to issue a formal notice to Radio France. Knafo is alleging a lack of political pluralism and unfair treatment following an interview on France Info. She cited specific grievances, including what she described as “73 interruptions in 24 minutes” and a perceived bias in how her political family is represented on national media.
