Arcos de Valdevez to host Romaria de Nossa Senhora da Porta

The Romaria de Nossa Senhora da Porta is scheduled to take place on September 19 and 20 in Arcos de Valdevez. Traditionally held on the third weekend of September, the event features drum groups, a traditional sweets fair, and religious ceremonies organized by the Misericórdia de Arcos de Valdevez.

The festivities center around the Igreja da Misericórdia. The tradition was revived in 2010 by the Irmandade da Misericórdia to recreate the historical atmosphere of the Alto Minho region's pilgrimages, following a period of cessation in the late 19th century due to budgetary constraints.
