Arc'teryx to host first Academy Backcountry event in Hakuba, Japan

Arc'teryx will host the first Arc'teryx Academy Backcountry event in Japan from January 29 to 31, 2027, in the Hakuba area of Nagano Prefecture. The event is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to enjoy mountain activities safely and confidently.

The academy features 18 different clinics, workshops, and seminars led by professional mountain guides, athletes, and experts. Programs are tailored to various skill levels, ranging from beginner sessions on gear handling and winter mountain basics to advanced backcountry clinics focused on high-level risk management and technical riding.

In addition to technical training, the event will include cultural activities such as film screenings, exhibitions, and live music. Notable sessions include a mid-level clinic featuring big mountain freerider Chris Benchetler, aimed at teaching new perspectives on safe freeriding and decision-making in the field.
