ARCTIC releases USB Fan Controller with native Linux driver

ARCTIC has introduced a USB‑based fan controller that can manage and monitor up to ten independent PWM fans. The device connects as a USB HID peripheral, supports hot‑plugging, and provides per‑channel speed read‑outs once per second. A custom open‑source driver written by ARCTIC has been merged into the mainline Linux kernel, exposing the controller through the standard Linux HWMON API so users can adjust PWM duty cycles for each fan individually.

The independent channel design lets PC builders fine‑tune cooling for different zones inside a case, reducing noise and power use while improving thermal performance. Real‑time fan speed data and separate PWM control improve the ability to match fan operation to workload demands, especially in systems with high‑end graphics cards or large radiators.
