ARD crime series Tatort and Polizeiruf 110 return with new digital streaming options

The ARD crime series “Tatort” and “Polizeiruf 110” are returning after a 19-week summer break, marking the start of the 2026/27 season. The new season introduces a significant digital shift: registered users can now stream new episodes in the ARD Mediathek two days before their traditional Sunday evening broadcast on Das Erste.

The season kicks off on September 13 with a “Tatort” episode titled “König in Gelb,” starring Maria Furtwängler as investigator Charlotte Lindholm. The plot involves a mysterious death in a specialized village for people with dementia, where Lindholm must navigate unreliable witness accounts from a colleague suffering from the same condition.

Beyond the digital update, the upcoming season features several cast changes and new investigator teams across different regions, including new pairings in Kiel and Munich, as well as departures of long-standing characters in Vienna.
