ARD channel ONE to shut down and merge into NEO

The German television channel ONE will cease linear broadcasting at the end of the year. As part of a reduction in linear channels requested by political authorities, ONE will merge with ZDFneo to form a new joint offering called NEO.

To mark its final months, the channel is scheduled to premiere several series highlights. Among these is the crime series ‘Sherlock & Daughter’, starring David Thewlis as Sherlock Holmes and Blu Hunt as Amalia Rojas. Set in London in 1896, the series follows the investigation into the mysterious murder of Amalia’s mother and explores the possibility that Holmes is her father. The eight-episode season is set to debut on the ARD Mediathek and ONE starting September 2.

Additionally, the second season of the British family saga ‘The Hardacres’ will premiere on the channel’s ‘Historical Tuesday’ programming block in September.
