ARD journalist Anja Kohl's false claim on AfD-linked journalist attacks draws BR clarification

ARD journalist Anja Kohl, during the BR "Sonntags‑Stammtisch", asserted that the AfD had failed to distance itself from violent assaults on reporters at protests surrounding the party congress in Erfurt. Video footage and eyewitness accounts later showed the attacks were carried out by left‑wing demonstrators linked to the "Widersetzen" movement, not by AfD supporters. The Bayerische Rundfunk (BR) issued a statement confirming it condemns attacks on journalists from any side and noted that the programme had omitted discussion of the protests due to time constraints. AfD leader Alice Weidel had already condemned the violence on the day it occurred, and other parties, including the Greens and SPD, also rejected any form of aggression.
