Arda Songur wins TEKNOFEST competition for KÜRE Encyclopedia project
Arda Songur, a second-year computer engineering student at Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University, has secured first place in the KÜRE Blue Homeland Article Writing Competition held during TEKNOFEST. Competing against approximately 1,000 candidates who submitted 2,000 articles, Songur earned the top score for his work on the Aydın-class mine hunters of the Turkish Naval Forces.
Songur’s project is part of the KÜRE Encyclopedia, an initiative designed to provide a reliable Turkish language information infrastructure for domestic artificial intelligence models. The platform aims to combat digital misinformation by ensuring all entries are transparent, academically sourced, and verified by experts for content quality, visual consistency, and linguistic accuracy.
In his winning entry, Songur highlighted the strategic importance of the Aydın-class mine hunters in protecting the ‘Blue Homeland’ (Mavi Vatan), noting their ability to detect and destroy underwater threats using advanced sonar systems.
