Arda Turan discusses life in Ukraine and potential Turkish national team role

Arda Turan, the coach of Shakhtar Donetsk, has described the extreme difficulties of managing a football team in war-torn Ukraine. Turan noted that the team must navigate nights in shelters due to bombings and air raid sirens, which can disrupt matches and cause them to last up to six hours. He expressed that while the team is adapting to this reality, he does not view these conditions as normal, stating that football loses its significance when compared to the protection of children.

In addition to his experiences in Ukraine, Turan has emerged as a favorite to succeed Vincenzo Montella as the head coach of the Turkish national team. Following a series of four losses in the Nations League, reports suggest Montella may be replaced, with the 39-year-old Turan being considered a primary candidate for the position.
