Ardahan mother injured rescuing daughter from fire

In the Damal district of Ardahan, a mother sustained injuries while rescuing her 6-year-old daughter from a fire in a highland shelter. The incident occurred in Burmadere village at Ağyar Plateau after a stove was lit to provide warmth.

Özgül Kaya Erensayın, 40, entered the burning structure to save her daughter. In the process, she suffered second-degree burns to her face, hands, and arms. Her daughter also sustained burns to her face and hands. The fire reportedly spread quickly after the stove ignited nearby hay bales, clothing, and a washing machine.

Both mother and daughter were transferred to the Burn Treatment Center at Erzurum City Hospital for ongoing medical care. The family noted that the fire began shortly after the stove was lit to combat the cold.
