ARDC launches Environmental Indicators Initiative in Australia
The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) has launched the Environmental Indicators Initiative to improve the monitoring of ecosystem health. The initiative aims to address challenges where vital environmental data is currently scattered across various organizations and stored in incompatible formats, making integration difficult.
By creating more consistent and accessible data, the initiative seeks to help Australia meet its obligations under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the Sustainable Development Goals. The project is the result of two years of consultation and stakeholder engagement, involving organizations such as the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) and the Atlas of Living Australia.
