Ardrishaig Distillery secures planning permission for waterfront redevelopment

Argyll and Bute Council has granted planning permission for the Ardrishaig Distillery, a new craft whisky production and visitor destination. Led by John Moore, the project aims to transform a disused waterfront oil depot into a productive site, addressing industrial contamination issues associated with its previous use.

Designed by Organic Architects, the development will feature a working distillery alongside visitor facilities, including tour and tasting spaces, a courtyard, a terrace, and a greenhouse. The project is part of a broader waterfront regeneration effort in Ardrishaig, following the successful restoration of the nearby Steamer Terminal.

Bari Reid, Director of Organic Architects, stated that the ambition is to provide a reason for people to spend time in Ardrishaig, contributing to the village's life while finding a productive future for a site that has been difficult to redevelop.
