Area Grecanica infrastructure devastated by violent storms

Severe storms have caused extensive damage across the Area Grecanica region, specifically impacting Melito Porto Salvo and surrounding areas. The weather has triggered landslides, soil erosion, and structural failures, leaving several mountain communities at risk of isolation.

Pierpaolo Zavettieri, the Mayor of Roghudi and a metropolitan councilor, reported that provincial roads are among the hardest hit. The SP3, a vital artery connecting several mountain towns, has suffered significant damage, including the collapse of containment walls near the Tuccio stream due to water siphoning effects. The SP24 has also experienced major landslides.

In addition to road damage, the storms have created critical issues for a facility housing people with disabilities in San Pantaleo, threatening the continuity of essential services in the region.
