AREA Research reveals social media usage patterns among Turkish voters

A report by AREA Research regarding the “Turkey Political Situation Survey” for August 2026 reveals the social media preferences of various political voter bases in Turkey.

Instagram is the most popular platform nationwide with a 67.4% usage rate, followed by Facebook at 48.3% and Twitter (X) at 32.1%. TikTok and other platforms account for 22.9%. Approximately 16.2% of the population reported using no social media at all.

Platform preferences vary significantly by political affiliation:

Instagram: Highest usage among CHP voters (71.2%), followed by İYİ Party (67.7%) and AK Party (66.7%). • Twitter (X): Most used by DEM Party voters (47.3%) and İYİ Party voters (40.8%). • Facebook: Preferred by MHP voters (59.6%) and DEM Party voters (59.4%), while AK Party voters show a 49.9% usage rate. • TikTok/Other: DEM Party voters lead this category at 40.9%.

Regarding non-users, the İYİ Party has the highest proportion of voters who do not use any social media at 19.2%. Other notable non-user rates include undecided/reactive groups (18.7%), MHP (17.5%), CHP (15.9%), and AK Party (15.8%).
